Event Details

  • Christchurch Park is a ‘Green Flag’ awarded park in the centre of Ipswich and will be home to ROC24 for the weekend of 30/31 May 2020.

  • A single-loop course (approx 5km) will cover as much of the parks stunning landscape as possible, heading southwards past the Victorian pond and Christchurch Mansion, and meander back to the start line through the wilderness area, landscaped gardens, camping zone area and race village. • Participants aged 18+ on 30th May 2020 can enter as solo participants, pairs or in teams of 3-8 (male / female / mixed). Team details can be confirmed closer to the event - but Early-Bird entries are limited, so don’t miss out. You can also enter as a ‘Team Nomad’ member if you want us to help you find-a-team!

  • Participants DO NOT have to run for the whole 24 hours - but can decide how long (time) or how far (distance) they run, jog or walk. For example, one team member can choose to complete a single lap while teammates complete multiple laps (continuously or spread out across the 24 hours period).

  • Participants are only required to complete 1 lap to receive a race medal. All Family Fun Run participants will also receive a medal.

  • In addition to solo, pair and team categories ROC24 includes Club and Business Challenge categories.

  • Podium prizes will be awarded for the longest distance completed in each category while goody bags gifts and spot prizes will be provided by our generous brand sponsors.

  • This will be a family friendly event with children's play area and Christchurch Mansion in close proximity to the Race Village, while clubs and teams are encouraged to erect gazebos beside the course to support all participants.

  • In addition to the sites existing cafe and ice-cream hut, the Race Village will include a host of hot food and drink suppliers, including vegan options and a retail zone where well known running brands will be based.

  • Water stations will be set-up along the course for refilling of receptacles.

  • Participant shower and toilet facilities will be available on-site in addition to the parks existing public toilets.

  • There will be plenty of entertainment for you throughout the weekend, with DJ sets from Ipswich Community Radio + live music, including a special ‘Elvis Singathon’ gig with ‘Harry Isaac Presley’ and his HIP band at 6pm on the Saturday.

  • Event car parking is available on-site at only £5 per car for the weekend. There will also be a drop-off zone in operation. All proceeds from car parking over the weekend will fund the vital work of local charity Age UK Suffolk.

  • ROC24 also needs to satisfy the requirements of a multi-agency Safety Advisory Group, including Suffolk Police, County Council, Ambulance Services, Highways and Environmental Health.

  • Measures we are putting in place to achieve this include:

    • First Aid services are on-site throughout the event.

    • The course is well marshalled and security accredited patrols are carried out with the support of Police Cadets.

    • A secure camping zone is operated with wristband only access.

    • The park gates are locked from dusk till dawn, with access to event participants and organisers only via a single security managed emergency access gate..

  • For further reassurance, Ipswich Borough Council has operated secure overnight camping facilities in its parks before, so is well versed in the safety measures required for this.
